Melissa is the most organized member of my team. She keeps us all on track and is the first to notice if a weekly task is falling behind. At times, I've traveled outside the country where I wasn't accessible, and I completely trusted that Melissa would keep the wheels turning and handle any issues that arose while I was gone.

She is that rare person you can completely trust with any responsibility or task. She works well without supervision, keeps track of deadlines and due dates, is able to self-train to a large extent, and manages complex processes. For my business, she had to learn how to use several apps, including Yoast, Canva, and MeetEdgar. She learned them very quickly, with only a little instruction, and manages them well. She's always agreeable and pleasant, a joy to work with. If you need a VA, you can't do better than Melissa Parra.

The Summer May Have Been Slow, But Here’s Why That’s Not a Bad Thing

August 07, 20252 min read

It’s easy to look back at the past few weeks and think, “I should have done more.”
Maybe your inbox was quieter, client work slowed down, or you took time away and now feel a little behind.

But what if a slower season isn’t something to feel guilty about? What if it’s exactly what your business needed?

Slowness Creates Space for Creativity

For me, this summer wasn’t packed with launches or hustle, and yet, I felt more creative than I have in a long time.

Without the usual pressure, I had room to reflect, experiment, and build things I’ve been dreaming about for months. (Like new automations in my own business and a fresh offer I’m excited to share soon!)

If you felt more inspired, more visionary, or just less stressed in your business these past few weeks, that’s not a coincidence. Slowness makes room for clarity. And creativity loves clarity.

Slower Seasons Are for Resetting

Instead of seeing a lull in client work or engagement as a sign of failure, consider this:
Every business has seasons, and rest is a necessary part of growth. Even if we don’t think it’s needed.

What you didn’t do was fill every minute, push through burnout, and force things to happen. This lull could be what allows you to come back this month more aligned and ready to take focused action.

Now’s the Time to Gently Regain Momentum

If you're starting to feel the pull to get back into motion, you're not alone. August is a perfect time to:

  • Revisit your systems and workflows (and simplify them)

  • Get organized behind the scenes before things pick up again

  • Launch or relaunch something with intention

  • Start prepping for fall (yes, already!)

You Don’t Need to Do It All At Once

Whether you’re just now opening your laptop after a much-needed break or you’ve been quietly creating behind the scenes, don’t try to do everything immediately. Give yourself permission to re-enter at your own pace. Taking your time allows you to be more strategic and feel less overwhelmed.  And what you build from a place of alignment will carry you further than anything forced.

Need a little support getting your systems back on track?

My Workflow & Automation Strategy Call is a great first step if you're ready to simplify the back-end of your business so it runs more smoothly—whether you're fully back from vacation or still easing into things.

Let’s make your next season feel less overwhelming and more intentional.
