She is that rare person you can completely trust with any responsibility or task. She works well without supervision, keeps track of deadlines and due dates, is able to self-train to a large extent, and manages complex processes. For my business, she had to learn how to use several apps, including Yoast, Canva, and MeetEdgar. She learned them very quickly, with only a little instruction, and manages them well. She's always agreeable and pleasant, a joy to work with. If you need a VA, you can't do better than Melissa Parra.

Do you ever get to the end of the week feeling like you’ve been busy, but you’re not really sure what actually happened in your business?
I’ve been there.
That’s exactly why I started doing a weekly CEO Date. A simple, intentional business check-in that I schedule every Friday. Just 90 minutes a week has completely changed how grounded, clear, and confident I feel as a business owner.
Today, I want to walk you through what a CEO Date is, why it matters, and how you can set one up for yourself each week.
A CEO Date is a scheduled, non-negotiable block of time where you work on your business instead of in it. That means no client work. No reacting to whatever pops up. This is your time to step into the CEO role and to zoom out, get intentional, and make sure your business is actually aligned with your goals.
The purpose of a CEO Date is simple:
Create clarity
Encourage intentional planning
Keep your business aligned and moving forward
A weekly CEO Date can help you to stay focused on your goals. Clearly understand what you’re working on, and why. Help you to spot issues early, like procrastination or overwhelm. Plus, gives you the chance to reflect on what feels heavy or chaotic and adjust accordingly.
Instead of running your business on autopilot, you’re actively leading it. Allowing you to build confidence and reduce stress by being proactive instead of reactive. Encouraging you to have consistent and sustainable growth.
Here’s how I like to structure my weekly CEO Date. (Get my template here)
This is a great time to think about how your week went. Take a moment to ask yourself:
What went well?
What felt off, messy, or draining?
What progress did I make toward my goals?
What unexpected challenges came up?
This is also a great time to look for patterns. If you’ve been procrastinating on something, ask yourself why. Is it truly necessary to be accomplished right now, or is it something that can be adjusted, delegated, or shelved?
And don’t skip this part: celebrate your wins. No matter how your week went, there are always wins, even the small ones count.
Reviewing what you are working on is a great way to make sure you are focused on the right tasks.
Check progress on active client or business projects
Follow up on pending tasks or communication
Make a note of anything overdue or falling behind
Capture new ideas or opportunities
By taking the time to check in on your priorities, you are allowing yourself the opportunity to evaluate what you’ve been working on and if it has been aligned with your goals.
Now that you have reflected and reviewed your week, you are ready to plan what’s coming next. What are the most important things you need to accomplish next week? Add those to your calendar. Make them a priority.
Time block or assign tasks to days
Schedule focused work sessions
Leave white space for admin, creative time, or rest
Confirm appointments, meetings, or deadlines
Add tasks that move the needle forward on your business
Set intentions for how you want the week to feel
This is your opportunity to plan your week intentionally to help make sure you can stay on track with your business goals.
If applicable, now is a great time to take a moment to track or reflect on metrics that are important to your business:
Income / Revenue goals
Lead generation (inquiries, discovery calls, etc.)
Audience growth (email list, socials, etc.)
Other metrics that matter to you
By checking your metrics, you are able to get an overview of your business as a whole. You are able to see where growth is or is not happening. Allowing you to evaluate and make changes.
The most important thing to remember as you begin this journey: this gets easier with consistency.
That 90 minutes might feel clunky at first, but once it becomes a weekly habit, it starts to feel like clockwork. You’ll know exactly what to do and how to use the time efficiently.
A few things that help:
Put it on your calendar and treat it like a real meeting
Block the time so nothing else can be scheduled
Use a simple template to guide you (grab mine here)
Create a ritual — light a candle, grab a cup of coffee, set the mood
This isn’t just about productivity. It’s about intention.
90 minutes a week can truly change how you run your business.
When you show up for your CEO Date every week, you give yourself the space to notice issues before they become problems. You’re able to course-correct sooner, make clearer decisions, and lead your business with confidence.
Creating the right automations requires clarity, intention, and a deep understanding of how your business actually works.
That’s exactly what we focus on during my Workflow & Automation Strategy Call.
