She is that rare person you can completely trust with any responsibility or task. She works well without supervision, keeps track of deadlines and due dates, is able to self-train to a large extent, and manages complex processes. For my business, she had to learn how to use several apps, including Yoast, Canva, and MeetEdgar. She learned them very quickly, with only a little instruction, and manages them well. She's always agreeable and pleasant, a joy to work with. If you need a VA, you can't do better than Melissa Parra.

Is your business feeling more chaotic than controlled? You meant to get organized in January, and suddenly it’s March… sound familiar? You’re not alone! Maybe your inbox is overflowing and your systems feel all over the place. You’re spending more time putting out fires than actually working on growing your business.
A fresh start can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to mean a complete overhaul. Just taking a few strategic steps can help you get organized and back in control. In this post, I’m sharing simple ways to reset your business and set yourself up for smoother workflows, less stress, and more time for what matters.
My first tip would be to schedule time on your calendar to complete these reset steps. I find that if I put it on the calendar, it is more likely to get done.
Before diving into organization mode, take a moment to reflect: What’s currently causing the most frustration in your business? Is it:
✔ A messy inbox full of unread emails?
✔ Client inquiries slipping through the cracks?
✔ A lack of clear systems for day-to-day tasks?
Pinpointing the problem areas helps you focus on what will make the biggest impact.
A cluttered digital space can slow you down more than you realize. Start small:
Unsubscribe from newsletters you don’t read.
Create folders or labels for important emails.
Organize your cloud storage (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) to quickly find what you need.
If you’re doing the same tasks manually over and over, it might be time for a better system. Consider:
Automating appointment scheduling with a tool like Calendly or Dubsado.
Using templates for emails, proposals, or client onboarding.
Creating a simple checklist for recurring tasks so nothing falls through the cracks.
Running a business can feel overwhelming if you’re always reacting instead of planning. Try setting aside one to two hours each week to:
✔ Review what’s working (and what’s not).
✔ Plan out your non-negotiable tasks and must do items.
✔ Check in on any overdue admin work.
This small habit can make a huge difference in how in control you feel. I set aside an hour first thing Monday morning to check my schedule for the week to see if I need to make any updates, and follow up with any emails that came in over the weekend. Don’t forget to put your personal non-negotiables on your schedule as well. On Fridays I have a CEO Date where I set aside time to review my business. It gives me a chance to check in on goals and plan for the week ahead. It keeps me on track and helps me make intentional decisions instead of always reacting to what’s urgent.
Taking the time to reset and organize your business isn’t just about feeling more put together, it’s about making your day to day operations easier so you can focus on the work you love.
